Sudanese warplanes bombed targets of the Rapid Support Forces in the Soba area east of the Nile, Khartoum North and Omdurman. The Red Sea state to the east declared a state of emergency, which is witnessing the evacuation of thousands of foreign nationals through the sea and air port in the city of Port Sudan.

South Sudan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Sudanese army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Rapid Support forces commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo had agreed in principle to a seven-day truce.
