The Algerian presidency announced that Abdelmadjid Tebboune will pay a state visit in June in France. During a telephone conversation between the Algerian president and Emmanuel Macron, the two heads of state "discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in France" The visit was originally expected in May.

The announcement of this new date comes a month after Paris and Algiers officially turned the page on the latest diplomatic crisis between the two countries. The two countries are now stepping up efforts to rebuild a more peaceful relationship.
