Sudanese army chief Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan issued a decision to freeze the bank accounts of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and their subsidiaries.

The decision stipulated "preventing the disbursement of any benefits or budgets allocated to them," the army chief's office said. The army has been in turmoil since an armed conflict erupted between the army and the Rapid Support forces in mid-April. The central bank governor Hussein Yahya Jangoul has been relieved of his duties.
