New York on Wednesday had the worst air quality in the world. About 75 million Americans are affected by the alarms about unhealthy or downright dangerous air quality.

The pollution has led to flight delays or cancellations and the cancellation of outdoor activities in schools. Two baseball games in New York and Philadelphia have also been canceled. New York State Governor Kathy Hochul urged residents to only go outdoors if they have to. The state will distribute one million N-95 respirators at subway stations, in parks and directly to municipalities.
