The Sudanese capital Khartoum witnessed aerial and artillery bombardment on Friday, as clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces continue. Declaration of Principles signed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, did not include a ceasefire.

U.N. special representative for Sudan, Volker Peretz, said he expected cessation talks to resume today or tomorrow. Nearly 200,000 people have fled Sudan to neighboring countries since fighting broke out last month, including many malnourished children who arrived in Chad in recent days.
