Branko Ruzic resigned on Sunday four days after a school massacre in which 4 schoolchildren and a security guard were killed by a 8-year-old boy. Opposition parties and rights groups immediately demanded his resignation.

The minister, a member of the ruling coalition Socialist Party of Serbia, attributed the unprecedented massacre in the country to the internet, video games and "Western values" less than 48 hours after the school shooting, a man killed eight people near Belgrade with a machine gun.
