Thorengruppen has been able to continue expanding by buying schools despite the Swedish Schools Inspectorate's rejection of the Group's applications for permission to start new schools. The Center Party now wants to stop the possibility of circumventing the law and buying schools.
Minister for Education Lotta Edholm says there will be "completely new sanctions for independent actors with major quality deficiencies" The Thoren Group's annual report states that the school companies were "acquired to increase turnover and thus profits" in the Group.
