Sudan acquired Russian-origin aircraft of the model "MiG-29" in the early millennium. The planes are a clear point of superiority for the Sudanese army in the current confrontations, as the Rapid Support Forces do not have air power.

Sudan also has another group of Soviet/Russian-made aircraft, including 7 MiG-21 and Mig-23 aircraft, as well as 17 Sukhoi Su-24 and Su-25 fighters. Sudan has 10 active aircraft of this type, according to the World Air Force report.
