The new technology will be tested at Orly airport in Paris from October 2023. It will allow passengers to check their luggage without having to open their bags.
The technology will also improve the accuracy of airport security checks. It is the latest in a series of 3D scanners being trialled around the world, including at Heathrow and Schipol in the U.S. and at airports in Germany and the Netherlands. The new technology is expected to be rolled out to other airports in Europe in coming years.
