China has warned both the United States and South Korea against "provoking a confrontation" with North Korea. US President Joe Biden and his South Korean counterpart Yoon Suk-yeol said any nuclear attack by North Korea would "lead to the end" of its regime.

Beijing denounced the decision, stressing that Washington "ignores regional security and insists on exploiting the peninsula issue to create tension" U.S. moves "exacerbate tensions on the peninsula, undermine regional peace and stability, and run counter to the goal of denuclearizing the peninsula"
