Elsa Widding became the first political independent of the legislature when she chose to leave the Sweden Democrats and keep her seat in the Riksdag. Party leader Jimmie Åkesson has not spoken to Elsa Widding himself after her decision, but in retrospect has a negative view of her nomination.
