The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is investigating two criminal cases in connection with a major fire in the village of Sosva, Sverdlovsk region. More than 110 houses burned down, one person died, and another went missing.

In addition, the penal colony was completely destroyed: prisoners were evacuated, and some employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service were left homeless. Locals say the flames came from one of the sawmills. The fire, which began on April 25, destroyed about 120 households, at least 300 people left homeless, 111 of them children.
