The Federal Law on Probation was adopted in February 2023. Its provisions regarding the creation of individual programs for the re-socialization of former prisoners will come into force in January 2025.
A special session of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum was devoted to this topic. The head of the relevant commission of the HRC, Alexei Melnikov, draws attention to the fact that the key issue is legally regulated only in the most general form. The law will be fully implemented in 2025, but work is already underway, he said.
