Palestinian journalist Najwan Samri expressed her sadness and great emotion at the martyrdom of her colleague Shireen Abu Akleh a year after her assassination by the Israeli occupation forces. Samri: "I miss her so much and miss her every moment and every second, it's been a very difficult and heavy year" The martyr journalist was one of the first generation of field reporters in Al Jazeera, and was born in Jerusalem in 1971, and holds American citizenship.

An investigation by Al Jazeera revealed the image of the bullet in which the journalist was assassinated, and military experts indicated the bullets used were of the armor-piercing type.
