Eduard Sagalaev was the president of the National Association of Television and Radio Broadcasters. In the Soviet years, he was the editor-in-chief of programs for young people on radio and television.

He was awarded various state awards, in particular the title "Honored Journalist of the Russian Federation" and the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" III degree. He also hosted his own author's program "In the World of People" on TV-6.
