In 2022, the number of violence committed against medical staff jumped by 23% compared to 2021, according to a survey by the Observatory of the Safety of Doctors. In 80% of cases, professionals have to face verbal aggression or threats.
But some patients, in 7% of situations, can also physically attack doctors. More than half of the incidents take place in the city centre and the Ordre des médecins reports that incivility mainly affects Hauts- de-France and Île-de-France.
