On the 27th, the Standing Committee of the Yangzhou Municipal People's Congress held a press conference on the promulgation of the Regulations on the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Grand Canal of Yangzhou. The Regulations consist of six chapters and 48 articles, consisting of general principles, planning and protection, inheritance and utilization, supervision and management, legal responsibility, and supplementary provisions.

On June 2014, 6, China's Grand Canal was inscribed on the World Heritage List, making it the city with the largest number of World Heritage sites among cities along the canal.
