The White Paper on the Environment was approved by the Cabinet on September 9. It emphasizes the need to simultaneously advance three initiatives to halt biodiversity loss and move nature towards restoration.
The goal is to secure at least 30% conservation areas on land and sea, including private land, to protect biodiversity. By 2030, the aim is to reduce greenhouse gases by more than 20%. The aim is also to expand the market size of the circular economy to more than 80 trillion yen (roughly $100 billion)
