"Prior instructions" and "advance directives" are documents that a person can leave when he is still in full disposition of his faculties. They include instructions on future care decisions, such as the treatments that this person wishes or does not wish to receive, as well as the destination, after death, of his body or organs.

These documents have been recognized at the state level since 2002, but many people still do not know they exist. The documents are only consulted in cases where the patient's clinical situation prevents him from personally expressing his will.
