Zhang Yan is the sixth-generation inheritor of "Brick Carving Zhang" Zhang Yan learned to carve bricks from his father, who died 30 years ago. Zhang Yan has been studying with his father for 10 years.

"The golden time to learn the craft of brick carving with my father is urgent," says Zhang Yan. "Beijing brick carving is a majestic and atmospheric Beijing brick carving," Zhang Yan says. "Just after opening up, my peers are only busy making money, and I 'gnaw' bricks at home," he adds.
