A tunnel built under the English Channel to connect Britain and France, it took 6 years to build. One of the largest engineering projects of the 20th century, it was named one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World in 1994.

It is the only land link between Britain and the rest of Europe, and was built to connect the Channel with the Atlantic Ocean. It has two tunnels, one for each side of the Channel, and is 18 meters wide, with a diameter of 7.6 meters. The other tunnel is for the other side, and has a 4.8 meter diameter.
