San Isidro is the patron saint of Madrid and the patron of the farmers. He was canonized in 1622 and is believed to have been born on April 4, 1082.

His feast day, May 15, marks the fourth centenary of the saint's canonization. The festivities are repeated May after May, with many special events related to the figure of Madrid. The Collegiate Church of San isidro will close the Jubilee with a closing mass at 11.00 am on Monday.
