Sudanese director Said Hamed is one of the most prominent successes in Egyptian cinema for non-Egyptian directors. Hamed was born and raised in Sudan before moving to Cairo in the early eighties to work in the film industry.

He is a strong advocate of cooperation between Egypt and Sudan, but also between Egypt, Sudan and the rest of the world. His film "The Road to Darfur" has not yet been released due to lack of funding and other reasons, but he says it is an important film.
