European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has carried out a new evaluation of the health consequences of ingesting Bisphenol A (BPA) This chemical is used to make plastics and resins used in the food industry, including reusable bottles, food containers, or protective plastics. EFSA has reduced the "tolerable" daily intake of BPA, i.e.

the amount that can be consumed daily without posing a health risk. The amount recommended is now 0.2 nanograms, an amount 20,000 times lower.
