Rashid Rida (1935) was the first to challenge the idea of the absolute benefit of the deceased from the work of others. The verses mentioned by Rida deny that a person should be increased in his bad deeds, or that he should decrease his good deeds.

But they did not deny that one should benefit from theWork of others without the penalty of punishment. The penalty is for one's work for himself, but the benefit of what is given to him is not called a reward, but it is a charity that God gives to him and favors him.
