The Japan Foundation surveyed 1,4 children and young people. 6% of them cited making education up to university free of charge as an initiative they would like the government to take.

More than 30% of respondents said that children should be safe and not involved in crime and that they should listen to children who are really in need. Only 9% said that they "know in detail" or "know" about the Basic Law for Children, which stipulates the principles of children's policy.
