Salma el-Shimy, an Egyptian fashion influencer, was arrested on April 3rd. She was accused of "spreading immorality" and publishing videos and photographs "contrary to morality and social values" Elshimy had filed an application for residency in Dubai where she planned to expatriate.
In December 2020, she spent a month in prison, before being released on bail, for participating in a photo shoot outside the Saqqara necropolis. In all, more than a dozen influencers were arrested between 2020 and 2022.
