The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has warned of the presence of the bacterium Clostridium perfringens in ground cinnamon of the brand Especias Pedroza. The bacterium can cause acute gastroenteritis, diarrhea and stomach pains after ingestion, so consumers are advised to check if they have one of the affected batches and discard it.

The notice has been issued in the first place by the Community of Madrid through the Coordinated System for the Rapid Exchange of Information.
