On average, each company will increase prices by more than 7% to more than 15%. Price increases are expected to be implemented from June usage.
Seven companies applied to the government for a price increase due to soaring prices of natural gas and other products used for thermal power generation. The average price increase for each company was reduced from the initial application, and including the revision of grid charges, from 7.31% to 4.20%. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said it recalculated fuel costs for the three months from November last year, when energy prices fell, to January this year.
