Håkan Nesser faces 2.5 years in prison in the charge of aggravated tax evasion. Nesser is charged with transferring close to SEK 15 million out of companies in the low-tax country of Malta.

The scheme in Malta was revealed by KulturNyheter in 2018 in connection with the Paradise leak. According to his lawyer Conny Cedermark, Nesser largely admits that the money was taken out of Malta, but that he did not intend to commit a crime.
