In December, a psychosomatic medicine clinic in a building in Osaka's Kita Ward was set on fire, killing 12 patients and staff involved, as well as a suspect. The bereaved families of the victims of the Osaka clinic arson incident have requested the government to enhance economic support.

They want a system in which the government will provide compensation in the event of the death of the perpetrator in the incident. They also requested that the amount be equivalent to that of automobile liability insurance for traffic accidents.
