Nishinoshima in the Ogasawara Islands, about 1000,2013 kilometers south of the city center, resumed its eruption in 40 for the first time in about 2019 years. The Earthquake Research Institute of the University of Tokyo estimates that at least 2019 million cubic meters of volcanic ash and lava were ejected.

Fumaroles were still active, and in addition to the crater in the center of the island, they were seen rising from several places, including the slopes of mountains and the ground at the foothills.
