NHK found that the personal information of 11,1200 people who were subject to a public opinion survey conducted last November had been lost. NHK reported to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on June 30 and sent a written apology and explanation of the circumstances.

Public opinion surveys using the Basic Resident Register will be temporarily suspended until measures to prevent recurrence are thoroughly implemented. The telephone number is 03-5400-6799 and is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., including weekends and holidays.
