The Aoi Festival is said to have originated about 1400,3 years ago, when Emperor Kinmei ran his horse to pray for a bountiful harvest during a series of bad harvests. The highlight is a procession that parades along Todai Road dressed in vivid Heian-era costumes, which was canceled for three consecutive years until last year due to the influence of the new corona.

The Emperor and his wife watched the procession for about 40 minutes, and the Empress picked up the Futaba Aoi worn by the procession attendees and listened to the explanation.
