Sultana Shajarat Al-Durr was one of the most important and prominent female figures in the history of Islamic politics. She was the mother of the Commander of the Faithful Hebron, and the first woman to rule an Islamic state.

She had a prominent role in fighting the Crusader invasion and the Mamluks in Egypt chose her as their sultan. Her rule paved the way for the emergence of the first Mamluk state in Egypt, but her life ended tragically.
