Israel reacted. Hundreds of flights from Iran landed at airports in Aleppo, Damascus and Latakia to bring supplies over a period of seven weeks, the sources said. Israel was quick to learn of the flow of weapons into Syria and mounted a campaign to counter the deliveries, sources say. The supplies included advanced communications equipment, radar batteries and spare parts needed for the planned modernization of Syria's air defense system.
