Hakodate City, Hokkaido, has decided to cancel pool classes at public elementary schools. The city has been unable to secure bus drivers for children to travel to schools with swimming pools.

About half of the public schools in the city have a swimming pool, and children from those that don't have one have been transported by bus to the school with a pool. The school board is considering whether to resume the classes next year, but the decision has been made to cancel them for this year.
