Domestic greenhouse gas emissions in fiscal 2021 were 11.7000 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, 2300 million tons, or 2% higher than the previous fiscal year. It was the lowest and the lowest since FY2013.

In order to achieve the goal of limiting the increase in global average temperature to 2021, the government has set a target of reducing emissions by 5% by FY2030 compared to fiscal 2013. In fiscal 2019, emissions have decreased by more than 2020% compared to Fiscal 2019.
