Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are military groups formed from the Janjaweed militia and officially recognized by the state in 2013. The forces have been entrusted with various tasks related to eliminating rebel movements in Darfur in western Sudan.

The RSF participated in the EU-sponsored Khartoum operation to counter irregular migration and the Yemen war and stood by the popular revolution that toppled the regime of ousted President Omar al-Bashir. Many considered it an army within the army, and negotiations began after al- Bashir's ouster to fully integrate these forces into the Sudanese army.
