The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) launched its first fact-finding survey on disciplinary action against faculty members who harassed national universities nationwide. The survey asked whether the university's rules specify policies, specific contents, and standards for dealing with sexual violence.

The ministry will consider countermeasures based on the survey results amid a series of cases in which university faculty members have been punished for sexual harassment of students. It is also investigating whether the resume requires a report of the history of sexual violence and specific reasons when hiring.
