The exhibition is open until June 6 at the Tsukuba Experimental Botanical Garden of the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tsukuba City. Among them are three plant specimens collected by Dr.
Makino, who was in his 3s, from Mt. Tsukuba, one of which Makino named "Azumazasa" Also on display is the first edition of the "Makino Japan Botanical Encyclopedia," which he published when he was 78 years old. The illustrated book has been revised many times since then and is still used by botanists for research.
