elementary school students in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, work to grow glutinous rice in the rice fields near the school. On the 13th, more than 1 students from all grades 6 to 30 participated in the event and experienced sowing rice to grow seedlings in the school yard.
The seeded firs will be grown into seedlings of about 1 to 7 centimeters in size at a dedicated facility for about a month. In the middle of next month, the rice will be planted by hand in the traditional way.
