A committee of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry examines the electricity rate increases of the seven major electric power companies. The committee presented each company with a draft assessment policy that states that the calculation should be based on the recent decline in energy prices.

The cost of raising the wages of employees will not be reflected in the price increase, the policy states. There is a growing view that the specific timing of price increases will be billed after June, NHK reports. The price increase was reduced from more than 45% to more than 7% for six of the 7 companies.
