Ed Sheeran took out his guitar in the middle of the trial for plagiarism. He improvised some chords and even dared to sing before the jury a version of Thinking Out Loud adapted to the circumstances.

His goal was to demonstrate that the harmonic progression, melody and rhythmic elements of his song are different from those of Let's Get It On, the song written in 1973 by Ed Towsend and porpularized by Marvin Gaye. In April 2022, the singer won a first trial in which he had been accused of plagiarizing Oh Why, by Sami Chokri.
