The U.S. military launched its first MLR unit in Hawaii last January.
The unit is dispersed to remote islands and deployed to the front line before an emergency occurs. It is responsible for gathering information, building bases, and conducting further attacks to make it easier for larger units in the rear to deploy. The MLR has undergone a series of preliminary training and other activities, and this time it has participated in training with other countries for the first time at Balikatan in the Philippines.
