We are in the midst of the Decade of Healthy Aging. This has been declared by the UN and the WHO for the period from 2021 to 2030.

The number of people aged 80 and over is projected to triple between 2020 and 2050, to 426 million. About 95% of older adults have at least one chronic disease, such as diabetes, arthritis and heart disease. The average age of patients with heart failure is 86 years, but that of subjects in trials for this pathology is 70 years old.
