The rhododendron is born in mountains, forest edges or shrublands at altitudes of 1300 to 1500 meters, and its flowers are as clear as snow and jade. According to the "Comprehensive Scientific Investigation Report of Fujian Tianbaoyan Nature Reserve" published in 2002, there are 15 species of wild rhodoendron plants in the reserve.

The monkey-headed rhodos is also known as the Nanhua rhodods and is distributed in patches in the Reserve. The curved cuckoo is similar to the antler rhododes but with thinner petals and an extra layer of soft beauty.
