The fire broke out on Tuesday night in an apartment on the first floor of a six-storey building in Berlin's Wilmersdorf district. A total of eight people were injured, some seriously, many suffered smoke inhalation, some even burns.

A neighbor from the ground floor provided assistance with his ladder, according to the fire department. It is still unclear how the fire started. The house is not habitable for the time being. Around 30 residents were cared for in a bus provided.
