A chain reaction has triggered a fire brigade operation near Stuttgart. Because a man dumped gasoline on a grill and the canister burned, nearby manhole covers were lifted out of a canal.

A man had emptied gasoline into a burning charcoal grill while barbecuing on a private property, creating a two-and-a-half-meter-high flame. The gasoline leaked and ran through a shaft into the sewer system, where the deflagration and the blast wave occurred. The 32-year-old perpetrator was slightly injured and was taken to hospital to treat his wounds.
