The censorship of books in American public libraries and schools is a phenomenon that has starred in multiple political and media debates. Today, legislative challenges to reading freedom have reached record levels.

The American Library Association (ALA) has published its annual list of the 13 most persecuted books. Maia Kobabe with Queer Gender, George M. Johnson with Not All Boys Are Blue and Toni Morrison with Blue Eyes repeat in the list. John Green, Stephen Chbosky, Sarah J. Maas and Jesse Andrews have also been accused of "sexual indoctrination" and "blasphemy"
